Car Side Awning in Oxford Cloth, Two Sizes
Pull up at a campsite and the shade has to come from somewhere. This awning runs one edge over the car's roof and stands the other on two iron poles, throwing a single-layer Oxford cloth roof across the ground beside the vehicle. Two sizes are sold: 300 by 150 centimetres at about 1.37 kilograms, and 300 by 200 centimetres at about 1.47. Army green is the only colour. Guy lines from the poles hold the outer edge up and the tension steady. It is shade, not shelter. There are no walls, no floor, and nothing to zip shut at night, so it will not keep weather out the way a tent does. On open ground with any real wind, tie the lines down hard or take the whole thing down, because a flat sheet three metres across catches a gust the way a sail does.
